To create a perfect day for one of our clients

We got acquainted with Brankica four years ago. She is a wife and a mother of four, including a seven-year-old girl diagnosed with ADHD and a four-year-old boy diagnosed with infantile cerebral palsy. 32-year-old Brankica dedicates her full attention and concern toward taking care of her children. To make her burden even heavier, she lives with her family on the fifth floor of a building which lacks an elevator, making it even more difficult for her to take care of her children because she is unable to bring her children down the stairs for a walk.

The first time we visited Brankica we noticed that she is lonely and slightly depressed. On one occasion she stated that she is losing the meaning of her life, by losing her contact with the outside world and the inability to go out with her children. We were told that she and her children feel like prisoners in their own home.
Our visits became more frequent and she was feeling happy for every one of them, in particular, because of the conversations we had and also because we occasionally took them to organized events such as: “A happy start of the school year”, “New year packages for every child” etc. During one of our conversations, she mentioned that her kids have never visited the ZOO and she is looking forward to taking them to the ZOO.

Our team was considering how to help Brankica restore the meaning of her life as well as make her know that she is not alone in it, that we love her and care about her. We had an idea to provide her and her children with a perfect day.
One of our female volunteers is working with children with special needs and she offered to help. Along with her, we took Brankica and her children from her home and we got them to the ZOO. There was no end to their happiness. The children were screaming with joy, they were going sightseeing on a scenic train, we saw all the animals and together with the children we fed the animals, we bought the kids’ favorite food, we were playing all kinds of games on children’s playground and we did many other entertaining things.
